Pumpkin Spice Latte syrup/ creamer

Let's not be coy. We all know I'm a coffee fiend. As the whispers of fall started to dance in the air, suddenly an acronym started to pop up every where. PSL ... psl ... psl. A psl is a pumpkin spice latte. I can't figure out why but everyone gets COMPLETELY obsessed with pumpkin everything. For me it's the smell. I recently changed out all my air fresheners to pumpkin scented.

Now I know what your thinking - that's great Rebecca but what is in that pan. It is *drum roll* pumpkin spice latte syrup!!! I had all the ingredients on hand. It took me LESS than 10 mins to make and the total cost is LESS than on PSL from Starbucks.

I actually used this recipe from A Beautiful Mess and made 2 small changes.

Changes
1) Add 1/2 tsp of all spice
2) Add 1 can of sweetened condensed milk

Ok so you may be saying sweetened condensed milk? Isn't that for baking. To you I say, phooey. Sweetened condensed milk is PERFECT for coffee or tea in moderation. I can use 2 teaspoons of sweetened condensed milk instead of skim milk and it is LESS calories. It also makes my lattes taste creamier and a tad thicker.

I'm still tinkering with the recipe. Next time I may only use 1 cup of water since I am adding the sweetened condensed milk.

I put mine in mason jars and didn't strain them although I wish I would have. I had a lot of settling and there is usually dregs in the bottom of my cup - which is somehow always an unpleasant surprise.

The flavor is PERFECT! I'm down to just the right mason jar. If you aren't a coffee fan this syrup/creamer is great in chai tea. Pumpkin chair double shot iced lattes is my favorite fall drink (even if it sounds atrocious.)

I've been listening

Well after reading that title several times, it sounds a little creepy.

I've been listening to podcast.

What's a podcast?
It can be audio or video. Since I'm an iPhone/iPad person I use the Podcast app by Apple. Droid has their own variety of apps and most people who do a podcast will offer streaming audio on their blog or website. Podcasts can be about anything and best of all they are all FREE!!

How'd I get hooked?
After I set up my yarn wall I got back into knitting. I usually watch TV while knitting, but when I was in college I didn't always have a working TV so I would listen to or watch podcasts. Their were a few knitting ones that I enjoyed. I started to dig back into the podcast world. I know I mentioned Night Vale and Never Not Knitting, but since then I've found even more to immerse my ears in. I have even started listening in the car rather than playing music.

I will admit I mostly listen to knitting podcasts, but I can find podcasts about that, you really can listen about any subject you want. It's like an blog on tape. :P

Do you listen to podcasts? Which ones or why not?
