The Parker House Idea

The holiday season is upon us! For me that means my mom may contact me the night before and ask me to whip up some roll or bread item.

I love to bake different bread and my family knows it. I really enjoy being know for that.

Rolls are fun, but aside from what they taste like I often play with what they look like.

Some times i'll make small little balls (yah i said it) and put three in a muffin pan so they pull apart. My current favorite way is one associated with Park House Rolls (it's a recipe in one of my cook books.)

It's a recipe from an old hotel that was known from it's rolls.
Roll out your dough, cut small squares and roll them
Then place them on a pan and push each roll right up next to the previous one. (haha rolled rolls)

They come out in long "logs" which are great for rectangular serving dishes. When they break apart they sides are soft but the top has a nice crust.  The pictured ones are actually covered in garlic butter for an italian dinner!

What are you known for in your family?
What do you do to get ready for the holidays?
What is your favorite type of bread/ rolls?

  1. These rolls look delish! So simple and delectable. And, as you've demonstrated, it's convenient that they can be dressed up or down for different meals or occasions.

I suppose I'm known for my childlike enthusiasm or nerdiness in my family. I'm not all that close to my maternal, extended family, so I'm not sure they know much more about me than that I've always been the odd one out. I find myself growing closer to Wesley's nuclear family and spending more time with them around the holidays.

Holidays of any sort require decoration, provided I have the time and the wherewithal. We'll definitely put lights up and watch Elf and have a fancy family dinner for my mom's birthday at Maggiano's.

    I don't think I have a favorite bread. I love all kinds. Because I'm a carbosaurus.

  2. Oh Carbosaurus is pretty much my ancestry.
